Heritage Memorial Park
MCAGCC, Twenty-nine
Palms, CA
In February 1957, the USMC officially commissioned
the facilities at Twenty-nine Palms as the new Marine Corps Base (MCB)
Twenty-nine Palms. In October 1978, the USMC re-designated the
base as the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Training Center (MCAGCC)
Twenty-nine Palms. From Korea and Vietnam Wars, Operations Desert
Shield and Desert Storm, to Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq,
the Combat Center remains the key to Marine Corps combined arms
operations, and preparation for its role in the Global War and
Terrorism. This memorial is for all the past, present and future
marines trained in this base.
